Chahat's Journey to ACCA Success

Hello Everyone,

Today, we at edZeb are excited to have a conversation with Chahat, who has successfully completed the Knowledge level and is now advancing towards achieving her ACCA certification.

Her journey through this rigorous program has been inspiring, and we are eager to learn more about her experiences, the challenges she faced, and the valuable insights she gained along the way.

Hey, Chahat, congratulations on your achievement and now that we have got this chance to have a word with you to start with let us know,

What Made You Choose ACCA?

It was not at all an option in my suggestions, it was just like randomly searching for what to do in my life because I was really stuck. I do not know how to explain that because I started with science as my mainstream in 11th and then I switched to humanities because it was not making sense to me. Then after humanities, I was again like I didn’t know what to do and everyone was asking about the future and everything.

So, I just began searching what’s next to do, to be aware of what’s happening around me and that is how I came across certain certifications like CA, then CPAs and I researched a lot about all of these for like six months, eight months and then I settled down with ACCA.

Okay, So You Continued it After Your Senior Secondary?

No, actually I did it after graduation, to be exact alongside my last year of graduation. I researched where I could join an integrated ACCA course along with graduation, so I joined Christ University and then I got to meet Akhil sir.

I actually had an accounting with a mix of subjects in my graduation, So I got exempted from those and earlier it was like going somewhere. But actually, after meeting Akhil sir, I got to believe that, okay, this is making sense now.

Finally, after four years, it’s making sense. No, like what happened is that when you’re so confused and all, so obviously it takes time to recognize the right path, the correct thing.

Earlier you didn’t know how to move forward, but now, do you think that there is a future after getting the certification or immediately after clearing your knowledge level?

Yes, it finally made sense to me. Like, okay, I can do this. I, myself can see going somewhere with this. It was not like, yeah, I’m stuck like I was earlier. I even had a conversation about this with Akhil sir about my past experience and he gave me confidence because obviously I was losing it, to be honest. Surprisingly, a session with him was like a confidence-building thing also and then with this I was like, okay, now I can do something in future. I’m not just, you know, looking for what to do. Yeah, now one fine day I will be having certification soon and obviously, this thought boosts my morale as well.

Talking about your typical day,  how was your usual routine at edZeb?

Coming to it, I started attending classes and all. We had interactive live classes with instructors who made complex topics easy to understand. I’m too well on my own and a couple of things to do it was like either studying or either reviewing the previous day’s notes and any assignments I had.

It was not such a majorly engaged routine because, to be honest, studying for me is not that hard. I stayed focused. So I just, I just sit down and then I go on for like four, five hours and it’s okay for me to do like that.

So, while giving four to five hours of sitting every day, Did you focus only on understanding the basic concepts, or did you rely on rote memorization to learn the material?

Honestly, obviously, with a couple of subjects, it was theoretical and then I had to remember it, memorize it. So that helped a lot along with like, obviously Akhil sir was there.

So, he used to, you know, in BT, he used to give us these mnemonics and everything that really helped and he also helped with revising. He even pinpointed things like at regular intervals so that I could improve on my weaker areas. Yeah, and then there were like subjects, like, obviously I did three of my subjects of accounting and it was my first time doing them, I was from a Humanities background and I was really worried.

But Bhalla Sir actually helped a lot because he, you know, gives you a deep understanding of the concepts and it was very helpful for me because he started from the very scratch. Like from the very beginning, he built on that concept and from then onwards my understanding of the concepts became clearer.

Now I’m very happy that I had him for the very first time learning accounting.

And what about the study material given by the institute or referred by your mentor?

It was everything, both the notes and the study materials helped including LMS which provided me access to pre-recorded lectures, YouTube videos, question bank of frequently appearing questions in exams. It was everything and obviously, the live class and the lectures also helped with the understanding and everything. It was everything they provided made it so easy to understand.

So like earlier you were confused, the future didn’t seem so bright or like there wasn’t any clear path to follow, right? Now that you have cleared the ACCA knowledge level, do you have any career goals in your mind?

I’m, to be honest, I still like searching for a particular path because obviously I just started at this given first level, I know like it’s a very vast qualification that there are many routes I can take after I do this.

So I’m just waiting for something, you know, to call and yeah, until I reach that level of clearing it, then only the path will shine even brighter and I will be choosing a specialised corporate job in any sector may be investment, marketing, management or any other.

Any study strategies or tips you would like to give to students who are still, like, thinking of doing it?

From the very beginning, Akhil sir has been telling me throughout every exam that I have taken that you have to go through all the questions, all the chapters alongside class and this-that, and do remember the tips also, don’t leave studies out.

It was very simple for me, the whole routine he made. I mean, like it’s sort of a personalised study plan. I used to do the revision of the topics covered in the class. And then alongside that, I used to review the whole chapter through all the study material as well. I was done with the chapter by the time it was covered in class.

And I only have to go and revisit it at home. So, I think this is the only suggestion, stay focused on your studies, review and revise.

Okay, so one last question.

Would you suggest edZeb to someone who wants to enroll in the ACCA program? And what’s the reason for it?

Obviously, ma’am. To be honest, everything is good. The team is very supportive and they respond so quickly. But my teachers, if I may say, I remember I met with Amit Sir and then I had a demonstration with Akhil Sir and then my classes. Literally, I’m so happy that I have these three teachers, especially Akhil sir, as my mentors.
